This is the tee time I would want so no one would be there to watch my tee shot!

Yesterday one of my Pinehurst golfing buddies shot these pictures on the first tee of the practice round. Rob Pilewski in the blazer is the head pro and in charge of golf operations at Pinehurst. He was announcing the morning tee times. Nice shot of Rob talking to Ben Crenshaw who was one of the major players in the redesign of NO. 2.
One day to go to the Men’s U.S.Open at Pinehurst! Pinehurst is my winter home but unfortunately, I will not be there for the Open! One of my best golfing buddies in Pinehurst is the father of Rob Pilewski who is the head pro and in charge of golfing operations at Pinehurst. Rob will be announcing the players today on the number 1 tee for the practice round. Tomorrow will have another practice day for the players before the action starts on Thursday. I’ll be watching the coverage and can’t wait to see how the players react to the newly redone No. 2. When you go to Pinehurst, there is nothing like sitting on the veranda of the club house overlooking the number 18 green and I have done that many times. Here’s a nice interview done with Arnold Palmer from that spot on the veranda. Enjoy and Happy golfing from this average golfer.

If you love golf, stop what you are doing and watch this beautiful video put together by ESPN’s Hannah Storm. A wonderful tribute to the late Payne Stewart!
The Opens are almost here! My Pinehurst golfing buddies tell me that there is excitement in the air there and it is reported the Men’s Open is a sellout. They are expecting 400,000 spectators total to show up! Phil Mickelson was in town for a practice round and here is a link to his interview and take on No. 2.
Happy golfing from this average golfer!

Oh how I miss being at my home away from home in Pinehurst! Although I won’t be in town for the Opens, my golfing buddies there are keeping me up on what is happening. Two weeks to go and lots of practice rounds going on at No. 2. I will be heading there in mid July for some summer golf and in the meantime, can’t wait to watch the Opens! Happy golfing from this average golfer!
Wow, an 11-year old qualified for the Women’s U.S. Open at Pinehurst. That should be fun to watch. Here’s a link on her story. Happy Golfing from this average golfer!

First of all, “HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY” to all the wonderful mothers and wives who are so tolerant of us golfers throughout the year….have a wonderful day! If your Mother’s Day will be on the golf course, have a great round. A lesson we should all learn from the ladies on the course is to watch their nice easy swing and follow what they do…I’ve been telling myself this for years. Sometimes I pay attention and sometimes I don’t.
The U.S. Open is about one month away. Everyone in Pinehurst is really gearing up for the two big shows in June, so here is a nice link as the excitement builds. Happy Golfing from this average golfer.
Here’s another nice link and memory from the 1999 Open at Pinehurst. Oh how the golf world continues to miss Payne Stewart! Happy golfing.
It won’t be long now until the U.S. Opens are upon us in my home away from home, Pinehurst! I’ve mentioned in past posts that No. 2 has had major changes made since the last Open so here’s a nice tour, hole by hole. Happy golfing from this average golfer!
