We are fortunate here in Pinehurst to have 40 plus golf courses throughout the area including two nice 9-hole facilities, one with a practice area. The first 9-hole course is Knollwood Fairways. The course is a fun place to warm up you golf skills and also boasts a nice driving range and putting green. Best of all, it also has a chipping green complete with a practice sand bunker. Some days, this average golfer just likes to practice his chipping and bunker shots, so all it takes is to go to Knollwood and grab your wedge and sand wedge, step up to the green and start hitting balls…no charge. The driving range is all off grass, no mats! The only thing you pay for is the driving range and 9-hole round of golf. They have a small pro shop that is well stocked and have a pro on site to offer lessons also. A sister course up the road a short distance is Midland Country Club which is also a 9-hole course. Midland has a practice green, but no driving range or pro shop. Both 9-hole courses have par 3’s, 4’s and 5’s to challenge you. You can buy package deals that include play at either course.
