Stop the Shank Shot

I love golf because there is always room for improvement in my game to say the least. Actually, I view it as an adventure when things go wrong and you have to find your way back. For example, I recently went off the rails and started shanking short chips to the green. I just could not seem to stop it as I was mentally challenged to find a solution. Looking over several online lessons, I discovered that I was standing way too close to the ball and was hitting the ball off the hosel rather than the face of the club. After some practice, moving my hands further away from my body, gone was the shank! I want to share this Golf Academy video about the shank, because it approached it a little differently. The most feared shot in golf…as the video mentions. So, if you get the shanks like I do, here’s some relief of mind that it can be fixed. Happy golfing from this average golfer!

The 40 Yard Pitch Shot

This average golfer is always looking for ways to improve his game when he isn’t out on the links. We all face that “in between” 40 yard pitch shot at some time during our round of golf. Here is a nice video from the Golf Channel that will help your confidence in making that shot. The weather here in Pinehurst is great and I will be writing about some of our many courses we have here as the winter golf season gets into full swing. Happy golfing from this average golfer!

Low Iron Shots Lesson From Lee Trevino

While I wait to get back out on the links, it is always nice to watch some golf video lessons to keep my game sharp. Here’s a nice one on hitting low iron shots and how your grip affects the shot. Happy golfing from this average golfer!
