Yesterday this average golfer played the Sound Golf Links at Albermarle Plantation near Hertford, North Carolina. Hertford is south of Elizabeth City about an hour from the Outer Banks. Many people told us that this was a tough course, but the slope from the senior tees is only 114 and from the blue and white tees the slope rating is 136 and 123. Many of the holes have waste/swamp area to carry, especially from the blue and white tees so the slope is greater from those tees vs the gold tees where they are positioned to take some of the waste carry out of the holes. There is a lot of water and some pretty holes along the sound and river. The prettiest holes are along numbers 16, 17 and a beautiful finishing 18th. Overall this course is average compared to most courses that we play in the Pinehurst area. Average cost here for non-members runs in the area of $54 but you can catch a free round if on a discovery package. If you are in the area it’s a course you’ll want to play. Today we will be working our way back to Pinehurst with a stop to play more golf at Cutter Creek Golf Course in Snow Hill, North Carolina. Happy golfing from this average golfer!
