Pinehurst Countdown

Oh how I miss being at my home away from home in Pinehurst! Although I won’t be in town for the Opens, my golfing buddies there are keeping me up on what is happening. Two weeks to go and lots of practice rounds going on at No. 2. I will be heading there in mid July for some summer golf and in the meantime, can’t wait to watch the Opens! Happy golfing from this average golfer!

Stone Henge

Here in the rural part of northeastern Pennsylvania you’ll find a great course in Wyoming County called Stone Henge. I played there this past week and would recommend you put it on your list of courses to play if you are in the area. More details on this course in a future post. Sometimes, after the round it is just time to relax and reflect!

The Mind Factor of Golf

This average golfer has been off the links recently due to bad weather, so as always, it will be tough getting back in sync. We all know how much we can add to our score with those dreaded three putts, so I need to avoid them when I get back out this week. Here’s a lesson from Martin and Holly of the Golf Academy that might help on the green. Happy golfing!

Driving With Graeme McDowell

I recently had the pleasure of playing the Gold and Black courses at Tiburon in Naples, Florida. On the first day playing the Gold course, one of my average golfing buddies lost…are you ready for this….21 balls! Now in defense of his game, it was the third or fourth time he had golfed this year. On these courses, you have to be in the center of the fairway on your drive…left or right means big trouble…as experienced by my golfing buddy. So, while I didn’t lose any where near 21 balls, I did lose my share so thought it would be good to brush up on a good drive position video. Here’s a nice lesson from Graeme McDowell at Pinehurst…and by the way, my buddy did much better the second day at Tiburon on the Black course as he only lost 19 balls that day! Happy golfing from this average golfer!

From the Range to The Course Swing

I was in Naples, Florida for a few days last week and played a few rounds of golf. I had one of those days the first day I was there, where my swing was terrible. As always, I headed to the Golf Academy to see if I can find a fix. Here’s one lesson I need to work on as I have the same problem as noted by the person asking the question in this lesson. Happy golfing from this average golfer!

U.S. Open…Are You Ready?

First of all, “HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY” to all the wonderful mothers and wives who are so tolerant of us golfers throughout the year….have a wonderful day! If your Mother’s Day will be on the golf course, have a great round. A lesson we should all learn from the ladies on the course is to watch their nice easy swing and follow what they do…I’ve been telling myself this for years. Sometimes I pay attention and sometimes I don’t.

The U.S. Open is about one month away. Everyone in Pinehurst is really gearing up for the two big shows in June, so here is a nice link as the excitement builds. Happy Golfing from this average golfer.
